Welch's attractive assistant is murdered, and the police have arrested
her gardener. With the help of Sol Silverman, veteran investigator,
O'Brien succeeds in his mission, and in the process brings down an evil
criminal organization. The investigation takes O'Brien from the track at
Del Mar, to the farm town of Manhattan Kansas, the neon strip of Las
Vegas, and to the glitz of a Beverly Hills fund raiser. Along the way he
accepts favors from a judge, is threatened by a garbage mogul, and
learns Sol's secret method of handicapping the ponies. The cast
includes a beautiful DA, an irrepressible secretary, and of course a
totally wicked villain.
