Jimmy's Address
In Six to Five Against, Jimmy lives in one of the
apartments owned by the popular singing duo, The
Carpenters. The apartment buildings are still there,
but they are not on Cecilia Street as in the book. They
are on Fifth Street just east of Downey Avenue.
Harvey's drive-in restaurant in
Downey, a suburb of Los Angeles.
One of Jimmy's teen age hangouts.

It's no longer there, but soon will
reopen as a Bob's Big Boy.
Taste in Food
Jimmy's not a gourmet. He's just a regular guy who
likes hamburgers, doughnuts, and pizza. He doesn't eat
at fast food outlets, however. The food he enjoys has
quality, and through trial and error he has discovered
restaurants, like Luigi's Pizza and Angelo's Fat Burgers
that serve homemade-style food without pretension.
Age and Physical appearance
The first book in the series is set in 1972, and Jimmy is
thirty-four. He'll age as the series progress. Jimmy is in
good physical shape, he is six-foot one, and his weight is
190 pounds. He has blue eyes, tousled sandy hair, and
looks like a cross between Ron Howard, in
HappyDays,
and a young Paul Newman. Figure that out.
Personal Life
Jimmy is divorced. His marriage crumbled when the stress of
his job--cop on the L.A.P.D.—took its toll, and he started to
drink heavily.
The divorce was a wake-up call for Jimmy. He went to night
school, earned his law degree, quiet the police force, and set
up his practice. And that is where we pick up his life, in the
first novel in the series,
Six to Five Against. The latest novel,
The Brimstone Murders, was published in 2008
