I will be signing books and hobnobbing with
the literati again this year at Los Angeles
Times Festival of Books. The annual event,
which is expected to draw over 130,000
visitors, will be held on the UCLA campus on
April 28 & 29th, 2007. Mark your calender.
Over 360 of your favorite authors will be in
attendance. It will be an event to remember.
Come on over and say hello. Even if you don't
buy a book, I'll be nice to you.

Megan Willingham, host of Authors 'n
More. I'll be with Megan for 30 minutes.
She's as smart as she is beautiful. Can I
say that, or is it sexist?
Charlie Sherman (above) had me on his
January 14th morning radio program,
discussing Six to Five Against. The
show was broadcast on five stations on
the east coast. His ratings zoomed.
On January 21, 2006, I was a member of the
mystery panel at Cerritos Library in CA. Along
with eleven other outstanding mystery authors, I
was invited to have lunch and answer questions
from the sellout crowd in attendance . Click above

The Long Beach Press-Telegram did
a nice piece about my life and work.
They included pictures of me and
my books. The article was in advance
of the upcoming Cerritos Library
Mystery on the Menu luncheon.
It's hard to see, but the photo of the
other guy on the page is Ray
Bradbury. He's an okay writer, wrote
a few good books, so I don't mind his
picture being almost as big as mine.

My brother, Ronnie, ran in last years L.A.
Marathon. He's in the picture. Look for the
guy wearing a T-shirt and running shoes.
He'll be in this years as well.

More Discussions, Parties and Other Stuff
Stay tuned for information about the Southern California Writers' Conference being held
in San Diego in February, 2008. They asked to be on a panel--isn't that nice--and I
accepted.
Hey can you believe, The San Diego Public Library had asked me to do a reading,
discussion and book signing in their Wangenheim Room Click Here for the library's
event page. Check for future events starring your favorite author.
On June 6, The Cerritos Public Library, 18125 Bloomfield Ave, Cerritos, CA had asked
me to join author Gayle Pool for a reading and discussion about mysteries and spy stuff.
The event was held at 7:30 PM. It was fun.
I had been invited to join several panel discussions with other authors. One at the
Barnes and Noble, 2615 Vista Way, Oceanside CA. It started at 6:00PM on June 25,
2005. And on May 24th, there was a Local Authors Night at Barnes & Noble in Aliso Viejo
at 7:00 PM. And another in Palmdale on June 19. I'll be doing more of this stuff.

TV & Radio Interviews Scheduled
THE BRIMSTONE MURDERS is now available on AMAZON, so I'm cranking up the promo
machine, again. My publicist, PJ Nunn of BREAKTHROUGH PROMOTIONS is starting to
schedule media appearances to coincide with the release of the book. Here one she's
lined for February 2008. I'll be on the Baron Ron Herron Show in Santa Barbara on the
12th. Check my Schedule page for more info. Keep watching for new events.
I had taped a 30 minute
interview with Chuck
Morrow for the PBS
Station, KVCR-TV. It was
aired in the Inland
Empire, CA, on the 20th of
June. I'm the good
looking guy on the left.

H2O Magazine to Feature My Short Fiction
Martin Sugarman, publisher of H2O, the
magazine of waterfront culture, literature and
the arts asked me to write a series of short
stories for his fine publication. I agreed. He
demanded something "Noirish" set in Seal
Beach, CA, back in the gritty days when the
town was a gambling resort. "Throw PC out
the window and come up with something
hard-boiled," he said. H2O Page
Echelon Press is Publishing the Next Jimmy O'Brien Novel
|
Karen L. Syed, CEO of Echelon Press has set a
release date of February, 2008 for my new Jimmy
O'Brien novel, The Brimstone Murders. I'm very
excited to be associated with such a quality
organization. Echelon has many award winning
authors under contract, and it's humbling to be
included in such an august group of writers. Watch
this space for more information. I'll be touring
extensively after the release.
In a world filled with disasters and catastrophes, there always remains hope. In The Heat of the Moment, twenty-one authors came together with a showcase of short fiction. Committed to aiding those who lost so much in the blink of an eye, we proudly offer this tribute to the true heroes of the San Diego wildfires, the survivors. We invite you to wear your own red ribbon in honor of their extraordinary "Courage and Inspiration."
Proceeds from the sale of this book will offer aid to those heroes through the support of the "Fire Safe Council of San Diego County."
