I was invited to hold forth with eleven other award-winning authors at the second annual Mystery on the Menu luncheon held in the Starlight Room, top floor of the Cerritos Library, Cerritos California. The event, held on January 21, 2006, was sold out, which was no surprise—the food was excellent, and the authors were superb, if I may say so. We talked about our books, the writing process, and, of course, we mingled with the wonderful mystery fans in attendance. Linda Bivens, of Crime Time Books, Pasadena, set up a spot and sold books penned by the participating authors. Padmini, of the library, and her staff deserve accolades for their tremendous effort staging the event.

This sign greeted the visitors at the entrance to the Starlight Room announcing the authors in attendance. Cara Black, Jerrilyn Farmer, Bill Fitzhugh, Denise Hamilton, Sue Ann Jaffarian, Harley Jane Kozak, Mark Haskell Smith, Marcos Villatoro, Jacqueline Winspear, Paula Woods, and of course, yours truly.

This is the beautiful Starlight Room where the luncheon was held. Each author was seated at a different table, eating and talking books and mysteries with eight of their fans.

Since this is my website, I'm going to show you my table. I'm the guy with the coffee in hand, trying to look like an author. . .

The autograph was free.

Before anyone was allowed to eat, they had to listen to us spout off. They asked me how I wrote my book. I said, I thought of what a good writer would write, then typed it out.
